Things to do when I get back home

Okay. I love it here with all my heart, and if it wasn't for the fact that all of my friends and family are in Sweden I wouldn't see a reason to go back there - but I still get those moments, here, when I think of something I just can't wait to do when I get back home to the glorious North and my cozy ass room.

  • Buy a bag of lantchips, prepare a tall glass of O'boy and have a tv-show marathon.
This is one of the best things ever, I kid you not. The chips and O'boy thingy is a habit I picked up from my dear Gabbi, who loves chips and O'boy together aswell. And a tv-show just makes it even more perfect.
  • Sitting under my blood red blanket with a cup of green tea in my favourite mug (with a green tea cozy designed by Bestie!)
My dear Bestie gave me the most amazing mug as a gift about a year ago. It's huge, white, with a green tea cozy that has a pink, crochet "A" on it. It's my all-time favourite and I just really love green tea. It reminds me of London.
  • Read Harry Potter.
I did not bring my Harry Potter books to America due to their weight, and I miss them so. It's not worth buying them all over just to have them to read here, so until I get to see my loved ones again my need is filled by reading fanfiction.
  • Eat saffron buns and drink mulled wine.
Mainly a Christmas thing. Trust me. Nothing beats this. It's the best feeling in the world when you have your very first saffron bun of the year and a scolding hot cup of mulled wine.
  • Seeing my brilliant friends and family again.
By far the most important one. I've cried over how much I miss them, and realized how much I actually do love them. Pookie! My dear honey buns! Thinking about seeing them again makes me so uncontrollable flippin' happy - it's insane.

Eighteen

I turned eighteen today. I'm legally an adult. My host parents made the perfect cake. All chocolate-y. Now I'm sitting on my bed, listening to Drake Bell while streaming Superbad. I'm contempleting wether to go get the Dumle bag in the cupboard or not. Chances are I will.

The best part about having a birthday is the cake and how you will have left-over cake for days to munch on.

Genesis x2

I'm in America. I flew over the big pond, I survived the first days of high school and I learnt some Danish along the way. My host family is the best host family there is, I'm sure. Their house is my house, they say. I'm not a guest in it, it's my home now. Well, my American home.

Severe homesickness is yet to be experienced, thank God. I've missed a few things from home, sure, but I haven't cried yet about being away from Sweden. I cried when I received a letter from Bestie back home. That was the only time. But in those tears, tears of joy were included of course.

Me, the girl who has never been nicknamed before, now has three of them that are in constant use. Mia, Sweden and Mike. Mia was by choice, nobody here can pronounce my real name so it is easier that way. Sweden is pretty self-explanatory. Mike is not by choice, not even a little, but it has stuck apparently. The story behind that is in French class someone accidentally typed "Il s'appelle Mia" which means "His name is Mia", and Cole said to me "I'm calling you Mike now. You're Mike." So, that is the name he has used for me ever since. Ever since the day before yesterday - but still. Nicknames are quite fun though. It's nice to have one for once.

I enjoy my American life a lot so far. The food is glorious (albeit unhealthy), the school is brilliant and so are the people. They are so open, and when I'm here I am too. My host family is fantastic, I love them already.

My wonderful host dad bought this awesome t-shirt for me at Wal-Mart, just to have at home.
There is a lot of peanut butter in food here. And candy.
Cracker Jack's is by far my favourite American candy thus far. It is glorious, people!

British comedy panel television shows

There are few things I enjoy in life as much as British comedy panel television shows. I'd say it first started about a year ago when I watched all of the The Big Fat Quiz of the Year (you guys should watch that!) in one weekend, and since then I've been a sucker for them. The shows are pure genius. As a cause of this I also found a great love for contemporary British comedians whom I didn't know existed, such as David Mitchell, Alan Davies, Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Rob Brydon, David Walliams, Miranda Hart, Noel Fielding, Jack Whitehall and Graham Norton. Well, the list goes on and on. All of them are crazy talented, and deserve their recognition. Brits are simply hilarious!

Anyway, I think you should check out these shows. QI (Quite Interesting) is my favourite at the moment. It's a show hosted by the amazing Stephen Fry himself and it revolves around knowledge. The comedians are awarded points depending on how interesting the answer to a question is, despite of it being correct or not.

Another simply hilarious show is Would I Lie to You? where three people/comedians on each team tell the opposing team a statement about themselves, and the other team has to figure out wether they're telling a lie or the truth.

Eurovision Song Contest

I just.. What the fuck. Eurovision Song Contest. We won. Sweden fuckin' won.
I must say, I'm quite proud. Way to go Loreen.
But a thing came to my mind.
Next year, when we're hosting the entire thing - I won't be able to see it. I will be on the other side of the country. Well. It's okay, I suppose.

Genesis

Once again I've decided to start a blog. Hopefully, it'll wake up that ability of writing that I used to possess. Or maybe this will consist of simply rants. But that's good too, eh?
